Police plan strict DUI enforcement during holidays

Law enforcement agencies across Kern County will team up to curb drunk driving during the holiday season from Friday to Jan. 1, according to a Bakersfield Police Department news release.

The Avoid the 18 Kern County DUI Task Force will conduct DUI and driver license checkpoints, local DUI saturation patrols, multi-agency DUI task force patrols and a DUI warrant and probation sweep. The task force will be aggressively looking for impaired drivers and will arrest anyone caught driving under the influence, according to the news release.

Also, on Christmas and New Year's weekends, the California Highway Patrol will deploy all available officers as part of its maximum enforcement periods, according to the news release.
