Man found dead in pickup truck

Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of a man who was found dead in the front seat of a truck near Wasco on Monday morning, according to a Kern County Sheriff's news release.

At about 8 a.m., a farm worker saw a pickup truck parked in an orchard in the 28500 block of Jackson Street southwest of Wasco. The farm laborer saw a man lying on the front seat of the truck and thought the man was asleep, according to the news release.

The farm worker reported the parked truck to the sheriff's department. At about 9:30 a.m., sheriff's deputies arrived and found that the man in the front seat was dead. The man appeared to be in his 40s. There were no signs of trauma or an immediately obvious cause and manner of death, according to the news release.

Sheriff's detectives are continuing to investigate the death. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 861-3110 or Secret Witness at 322-4040. Anonymous text tips can be sent to TIP411 (847411) with the message "KCSO" typed before the message.
