Capture Kern lets you picture your county
By Bakersfield.com
When we launched CaptureKernCounty.com less a month ago, we expected you to like it. But we've been blown away by how much you love it.
The concept of Capture Kern is simple: Professional and amateur photographers upload their photos of Kern County to the website, where our readers view and vote on the ones they like. The best of those photos are then published in a full-color 160-page Capture Kern County photo book that will go on sale in the Fall.
It's a great way to capture the many facets of our county as seen through the eyes of hundreds of photographers using everything from smartphones to the latest in hardcore camera gear.
Since launch, you've uploaded more than 5,350 photos that have a Kern County theme, and those photos have received more than 76,000 votes. Here's a sampling of the best photos from each day.
There are three months left before we close submissions for the photo book, so get started by uploading your images to 30 categories ranging from landscapes and architecture to entertainment and celebrations. It's free to participate, and we'll be giving prizes to winners of a variety of contests.
Capture Kern is sponsored by Tejon Ranch.
