Sexy pistachio ad draws inspiration from Secret Service scandal
By BAKOSPHERE
Paramount Farms is creating buzz in advertising circles with a new commercial for its Wonderful Pistachios brand that pokes fun at the recent Secret Service scandal.
The short spot features sexy women mingling with dark suited men wearing sunglasses and bright pistachio-colored neckties. The voiceover says simply, "The Secret Service do it -- and get fired for it. Wonderful Pistachios. Get crackin'."
Of the spot, AdWeek said: "
Fairly amusing, especially when you let your mind wander to all the potential bad puns about nuts getting cracked, which obviously is the point. The new spot for Paramount Farms' Wonderful Pistachios is strictly G-rated, and not likely to blow up the interwebs like the earlier Honey Badger ad, but it keeps the brand's off-kilter party going."
The commercial is one of four in a $30 million ad campaign promoting the Kern County almonds that also features the Village People, Brobee from "Yo Gabba Gabba!' and characters from "Frankenweenie," the upcoming film from Tim Burton.
