Frugatti's owner gets kicks by throwing stuff
By BAKOSPHERE
Ralph Fruguglietti has proven himself a successful businessman as owner of two successful restaurants, Frugatti's in Bakersfield and Giovanni's in Shafter.
Now he's set his sights on throwing the discus and shot put next year at the World Masters Games in Italy and the World Athletics Championships in Brazil, according to a feature story in the Atascadero News.
Fruguglietti is no kid -- he's in his 50s. But he's also a track and field veteran, having competed in high school and later at USC. After giving up the sports to focus on business and family life, he got the bug to return about 13 years ago.
He's now training daily and driving to the coast for competitions, where he's pitted against others his age. The News described him as being "amazingly fit."
"[Throwing] balances out my business life with my family life and gives me a reason to go to the gym," Fruguglietti told the News .
