Web, Bakosphere reacts to Instagram purchase
BY LOUIS AMESTOY Californian staff writer lamestoy@bakersfield.com
A lot of you use photo-sharing application Instagram and a lot of you weren't very happy with the news that Facebook purchased it for $1 billion on Monday.
That seems to be the consensus as we scouted out reaction across the Web on Monday afternoon to see what people from Bakersfield were saying about the mega deal.
If you haven't used it, Instagram provides a retro look to photos and has become one of the hottest mobile sites thanks to the huge popularity of the iPhone.
Here on Bakosphere, we have a feed of Bakersfield-related photos and the number of submissions (based on the tag #bakersfield) continues to grow daily.
The deal marks one of Facebook's largest purchases to date and the company paid a combination of cash and stock for the startup, which is less than two years old.
We pulled together the best comments from around the Web and put them into a Storify page.
