A second open casting call will be held in Bakersfield Friday and Saturday for an upcoming Disney film based on the story of McFarland High's championship cross-country teams of the 1990s, appropriated titled "McFarland."
According to a press release from Walken/Jaffe Casting and Disney, the film's casting director is specifically seeking Hispanic men and women ages 17 and over for various supporting roles. Bilingual speakers a plus.

When: 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday
Where: Holiday Inn, 3927 Marriott Drive, Bakersfield
The film will be based on a 1997 Los Angeles Times article about high school coach Jim White, who inspired students by forming a cross-country team at McFarland High. The school won nine state cross-country titles between 1987 and 2001, including five during the 1990s. The program was also the subject of a Sports Illustrated feature in 2004.
While several stories have circulated over who would be starring in the film, actors Kevin Costner and Maria Bello have been confirmed in the film's leading roles as coach Jim White and wife Cheryl.
Director Niki Caro will be directing the film. Caro's previous credits include "Whale Rider" and "North Country."
