Houchin Community Blood Bank will start taking blood at its new multi-million dollar digs next week.
The new blood bank building at 11515 Bolthouse Drive will begin drawing blood from donors at 11 a.m. Monday and continue until 7 p.m., according to a news release.
The facility was finished in January, allowing the blood bank to consolidate some of its services to one location, the news release said. The Truxtun Avenue location is still open and accepting donors.
The Bolthouse location's hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Bakersfield Heart Hospital is offering heart health check ups at its new Women's Heart Center.
The program, which opened in January, offers check ups to women for $25, according to a hospital news release. The check up with a registered nurse includes blood work and a cardiac risk assessment, said Michelle Oxford, vice president of business development for the Bakersfield Heart Hospital.
"We have tailored our program to meet the cardiovascular needs of women in all age groups in a more inclusive and thorough manner with special attention to education, prevention, screening, medical consultation and support group," Oxford said in the news release.
