Two more Kern County residents have died from the flu, the Kern County Public Health Services Department reported Friday.

That brings the total number of fatalities this season in Kern to 13.

A total of 92 people have been hospitalized with flu-like symptoms and 49 of those people were admitted to an intensive care unit during their illness, according to Public Health.

Twenty people remained hospitalized on Friday.

Of the 66 cases of flu that have been confirmed so far, 23 were of the H1N1 or "swine flu" type.

None of the people who have died from the flu had been vaccinated, county reports said.
