The foundation of a defunct adult day care donated its remaining funds to the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County Inc. on Friday.
Sandy Morris, a board member for the Alzheimer's group, said the $59,440.60 check from the Elder Life Foundation will help the organization kick off a $2 million capital campaign for its own adult day care facility.
"We've got to come up with a larger facility because we have a waiting list and there's such a need here in Kern County," Morris said.
The group is outgrowing its day care facility on Olive Drive, which provides respite to caregivers, and Morris said the new building will have triple the current locations's size.
