The Bakersfield-based nonprofit formerly known as National Health Services, Inc. is getting a branding makeover with a new name and logo.
The nonprofit announced its new moniker, Omni Family Health, last month.
"Our former tagline was, 'Health care for all,'" Chief Operations Officer Diego Martinez said. "That 'all' component seemed to stick from an employee point of view and a research point of view."
And from that concept the name "Omni" was born.
The 35-year-old organization, which provides medical and dental care and other programs throughout Kern County, was rechristened Aug. 19. A letter was mailed to patients last month announcing the change.
The group's website still bore the old name Thursday but Martinez said the organization is working on new site and has begun changing the signs at their various locations throughout the county. Omni Family Health also launched a public relations and advertising campaign to introduce the new name.
The organization is positioning itself to help people get connected with insurance as major parts of the Affordable Care Act roll out.
"We have a whole new team of what we call health care navigators and outreach coordinators," Martinez said. "Their job is to educate the new patient population that is wondering what they're going to do for their insurance needs."
The nonprofit's services are available to people with Medi-Cal, Medicare and private insurances, in addition to those without insurance.
"We treat people regardless of their ability to pay," Martinez said.
The federally qualified health center includes 16 medical, 10 dental and five behaviorial sites throughout Kern, including Bakersfield, Taft, Ridgecrest, Buttonwillow and Delano. Omni Family Health has more than 400 employees and served more than 60,000 patients last year, according to Martinez.
