It's the one awards show from which nominees want to walk away Empty-handed: The 11th annual Empty Space Awards takes place Sunday evening at Metro Galleries in Bakersfield.

Playfully called the Empties, the awards recognize the performers, directors and other behind-the-scenes talents who stage shows at the Oak Street theater, whose motto is "set theatre free!" The winners are selected by popular vote (for more on how to cast your ballot, contact executive director Brian Sivesind at brianjsivesind@gmail.com).
