Kristen Stewart on Twilight's Shocking Ending: 'I Lost It'
By Parade Magazine
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 marks the end of the popular franchise and a new beginning for Kristen Stewart as Bella becomes a vampire. Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella's relationship reaches new heights in the final Twilight film, but in real life, the actors are dodging questions about the status of their romance. The pair, who met on the set of the first Twilight film in 2008, never publicly addressed their relationship until Stewart issued a public statement apologizing to Pattinson for her "momentary indiscretion" after photos were released of her getting cozy with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders in July.
In the interview below, Stewart opens up about the evolution of her Twilight character and reveals the sentimental prop she just had to swipe from the set.
On Bella the vampire.
"The cool thing is because I got to play the human version of her for so long, it was more of a reward to actually be a vampire. It was more fun."
On filming the intense action scenes.
"I couldn’t wait. I got to stand on the sidelines for quite a bit of time, a few years actually, and watch everyone play around with that stuff, so yeah, it was fun."
On how Bella measures up to the other vampires.
"I definitely took a lot of pride in a couple of the things I did. Every vampire is completely different, but at the same time, I have to say I think Bella is the coolest one."
On the surprise ending.
"There’s an enormous, shocking, crazy, surprise happening at the end of the movie that is not congruent with the book. [Director] Bill Condon really twists the knife for anyone who might not want it to be over. I lost it."
On the special props she couldn't part with.
"I took my wedding ring and the moon ring that Bella wears."
On the one actress she wants to be like.
"I think that I’m so lucky to have had [Jodie Foster] as a model at such a young age. I worked with her when I was 11 [in Panice Room]. You find those people in life that you look at and go, 'God, I want to push myself. I want to be as proud of myself at one point as I am of the idea of her.'"
