We've had a variety of good conversation and community engagement on Facebook recently with local law enforcement's practice of hog-tying suspects, the boys from "Duck Dynasty" visiting Bakersfield, and Otter Pops garnering traffic recently.
While lots of people shared the "Duck Dynasty" link across Facebook, the hog-tying of suspects question quickly shot to the top of the interest list with a healthy debate Monday morning.
Also popular was our question about your favorite flavor of Otter Pops. Of course I'm sure asking this on the day the mercury hit 107 degrees was key.
So the result of our completely unscientific Facebook survey: Louie-Bloo Raspberry.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I had to go buy a box Saturday afternoon.
The fireworks show at Bakersfield College is back for 2013 and we have tickets!
We're giving away two family four-packs for the 7:30 p.m. July 4 show.
One pack will be given away Tuesday on "First Look with Scott Cox." You have to listen for the cue to call.
"First Look with Scott Cox" airs 7 to 10 a.m. weekdays on Bakersfield.com (with video) and NewsTalk 1180 AM KERN radio.

Social media courses
A few folks have emailed to ask me about the next round of social media classes at the Levan Institute for Lifelong Learning.
I'm happy to say that both Social Media 101 and Social Media for Small Business and Organizations are scheduled for the fall term at Bakersfield College.
Social Media 101 introduces you to the most popular sites including Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. We go over the uses, concerns and walk through setting up your account and connecting with people.
In Social Media for Small Business and Organizations, we talk about best strategies for promoting your business or organization through various social media platforms.
The schedule will appear online and in The Californian on Sunday, July 21. That's when registration officially opens, so mark your calendars.
Many of you have contacted me regarding the one- to two-question surveys that pop up while you're reading articles on Bakersfield.com.
Those are powered by Google and, as noted above the question, "your participation offsets the cost of publishing locally produced content."
