SAM ITANI has been promoted to senior vice president for ambulatory services at San Joaquin Community Hospital. Itani is to oversee outpatient service lines including The AIS Cancer Center and Quest Imaging. He started at the hospital in 1998 as the lead technician in its Biomedical Engineering Department, and became a member of its administrative team in 2007. Itani earned degrees in biomedical engineering and electronic engineering technology at Colorado Technical University, and a master's degree in technology at Pittsburgh State in Kansas.
NANCY C. BELTON has been appointed managing partner at Daniells Phillips Vaughan & Bock, CPAs & Advisors, effective July 1. Belton succeeds James "Jim" Bock, who has held the position since 1991 and will continue serving clients as an active partner in the firm. Belton was admitted as a partner at the firm in 1989, and for several years has headed its Financial Reporting Services Department. She will continue serving her clients as she transitions to the new role.
KIM SCHAEFER has joined the Bakersfield Association of Realtors as government affairs director. Schaefer formerly served as chief of staff to Kern County Supervisor Leticia Perez, and as a consultant, campaign manager and district representative to Rep. Jim Costa, D-Fresno. She specializes in activities such as media relations, outreach, strategic counsel, legislative affairs, advocacy and crisis management. She graduated from Cal State Bakersfield.
KEVIN BURTON has been appointed to the Children's Advocates Resource Endowment board of trustees. The organization, also known as CARE for Kids, raises money for local children's charities. Burton is president of the San Joaquin Community Foundation, and serves on the boards of the Kern County Tax Board and The Petroleum Club. He has served as director of public relations for Hall Ambulance Service and the law firm of Young Wooldridge.
