If you're in business in Bakersfield, check out future Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce seminars that provide a place to network with local entrepreneurs.
That was the message on "First Look with Scott Cox" Tuesday, when chamber president/ CEO Cindy Pollard discussed the Data Security 101 seminar and others.
This seminar -- which took place Tuesday morning-- was for businesses to get more information on how to protect their company's internal and external data. Last year, there were 27 million reported cases of cyber crime, Pollard said.
The business seminars help connect people in business with other businesses.
"One member told me they had sent over a staff member to one of our seminars and at the end, they walked away with a new client," Pollard said.
The chamber is preparing for the Oct. 24 Business Expo. Pollard encouraged businesses to turn in their vendor application before Sept. 13 for early-bird pricing. The expo attracts about 140 vendors and more than 2,000 attendees.
"If you want your business to be in front of those that matter, this is the place for you to be at," simulcast host Scott Cox said.
New this year is the post, tweet and win contest for vendors. Using social media, businesses that promote this year's expo on Twitter and Facebook have a chance to win a free booth for the 2014 expo.
