Have you ever felt there was a hole in your doughnut reality?
Dunkin' Donuts, the Canton, Mass.-based doughnut and coffeehouse chain known as much for its coffee as for its pastries, announced Tuesday it is coming to the Central Valley, including Bakersfield, Fresno and Sacramento.
Company president Paul Twohig said in a blog post that in addition to the company's move to Southern California, which was announced earlier this year, Dunkin' Donuts plans to develop as many as 1,000 restaurants throughout the state.
"We are recruiting multi-unit operators to open both traditional restaurants and non-traditional venues," Twohig said.
The company, founded in 1950, has established agreements with four franchise groups to build 45 new restaurants in Southern California, with the first Dunkin' Donuts restaurant expected to open in 2015.
Twohig did not predict when stores in the Central Valley might open.
