Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery is coming to town.

For the uninitiated, that’s a sports bar and restaurant that’s sort of Hooters with a Scottish twist.

Servers wear midriff revealing mini-kilts and plaid peekaboo bras under white halter tops.

It’s an equal opportunity uniform. Bartenders wear kilts, too.

“I just thought it would be a fun sports bar for the community to enjoy,” said Jeremy Helper, 27, who is one of three private investors planning to open the Tempe, Ariz.-based chain’s 11th store in July. It’s to be located at the Northwest Promenade at 2900 Calloway Drive.

Helper also owns Bakersfield Building and Maintenance. He declined to identify the other investors.

The Bakersfield Tilted Kilt franchise will occupy 6,000 square feet, which is the most common size in the chain, although other stores range from 4,700 square feet to 8,000 square feet. The concept originated in 2003 at the Rio Las Vegas Hotel, but franchises only went on sale two years ago, said Tilted Kilt spokesman Michael Cox. Eight stores are open and operating, but three more are set to debut over the next few weeks. Bakersfield follows grand openings in Madison, Wis., and Phoenix.

Franchises are being snapped up quickly because the chain offers the whole package, Cox said.

“It’s a fun place to visit because the girls are very attractive, which, of course, is part of the show, but the service level is excellent, too, because our girls are really well trained, and the food is delicious,” he said.

Helper said he purchased the rights to franchises in Valencia and Fresno, too, and may expand there if all goes well here.

The Tilted Kilt in Bakersfield will seat 180 inside and another 100 on the patio, and will have 18 televisions both indoors and outside.

Along with offering 24 beers on tap, there is a full menu of typical Celtic-style fare, including shepherd’s pie and fish and chips.

The restaurant has the usual sports bar food, too. Hamburgers and chicken wings and the like.
