Christine Peterson is The Californian's Digital Content Editor. She likens the position to that of an air traffic controller. Why? Because it's her mission to make the best use of stories, photos, videos and more on bakersfield.com. She works with everyone who creates that content to ensure it all lands in the right place. She also coordinates The Californian's photography and is involved with our growing number of in-studio shows, including "First Look with Scott Cox."
She has worked at The Californian since 1997 in several capacities, including as a crime and education reporter, copy editor, assistant city editor, business editor, city editor, growth and economy news editor and breaking news editor.
Before that, she reported at The Orange County Register for two years.
In 1995, Peterson earned a bachelor’s degree in communication with an emphasis in journalism at Santa Clara University.
Her journey to journalism started when, as a high school student, she loved to write but wondered, “Who will pay me to write?” What began as a love of writing morphed into a love of sleuthing out information and asking lots of questions.
