Zach Ewing

High School Sports Reporter

Zach Ewing and his unnatural love of all things sports came to The Californian in December 2007. He has covered high school sports ever since.

Ewing grew up in Albuquerque, N.M., hit his own athletic ceiling while participating in soccer, wrestling and tennis in high school, and then headed to the University of Missouri. He covered MU football, basketball and baseball for the school’s student newspaper and the Columbia Missourian and later served research and editing internships at ESPN The Magazine in New York and at the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post. His professional career began in 2006 at The Joplin (Mo.) Globe, where he also covered high school sports.

Ewing lives in Bakersfield with his beautiful wife, Ellen, their baby daughter, Hannah, and three cats.
