PAUL GIPE has won the Canadian Wind Energy Association’s Individual Leadership Award for 2009. The Bakersfield resident was selected for having led a campaign to bring a renewable energy program to the province of Ontario. The European-style program pays solar and wind energy producers for their electricity. He began pushing for the program in 2004.
AUDREY COCHRAN was among 2,500 participants in the 39th annual meeting of the International Continence Society, which took place recently in San Francisco. Cochran manages the Continence Rehabilitation Program for Drs. John Owens and Umaima Jamaluddin in Bakersfield.
BECKY WHITAKER has been promoted to become territory sales manager of Volvo Rents, a locally owned equipment rental company. The first woman on the company’s sales team, Whitaker joined Volvo Rents in 2008. She has three years of experience in rental sales.
The newly formed Kern Economic Development Foundation announced members of its board of directors: BARRY HIBBARD, vice president of commercial and industrial marketing at Tejon Ranch Co.; GABRIELA MELLO, community relations officer at Citibank; DAVE DMOHOWSKI, president of Premier Planning Group LLC; SHERYL CHALUPA, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of South Central California; JEFF GUTIERREZ, president of DeWalt Corp.; SUSAN HANDY, principal and director of Bakersfield Adult School; and MATT TOWERY, president of Towery Homes Inc. The foundation is a research and educational organization supporting local businesses and communities.
GREG BROIDA has joined Haddad Dodge’s sales staff. Broida has been appointed manager of the dealership’s Commercial Truck & Fleet Department. He has more than 30 years of experience in the vehicle business.
CATHERINE ANSPACH has been appointed Kern County Community Director at the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central California. She is to work at the foundation’s new Bakersfield office. Anspach is a Bakersfield native with more than 25 years of experience in marketing and project development. The foundation’s mission is to grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.
